Humber Ordinary

A lot of penny farthings get labelled as a Humber if they have no frame number and have the distinctive scroll saddle spring. The scroll saddle spring was sold as an accessory so could have been fitted to any machine. This machine has Aeolus bearings which again was sold as an accessory and bought in by many smaller makers. For the repair and restoration work it was treated as a Humber as it has an accumulation of features pointing that way.
This project required repair of both cranks, new mounting step, new screws, new spoon brake fabricating, the Aeolus bearings required welding up and teeth re machining, truing up the big wheel, repainting the backbone and forks, coach lining, polishing the handlebars and nickel plating etc..
