Pre war race car or oily rag saloon?

I’ve been wanting to build a new car for a while, I really wanted a straight six side valve, pre war race car. Finding a potential donor car is the challenge as your talking about something over 77 years old.

I found a 1938 Austin Goodwood 14/6

It seemed the ideal car at the start but maybe it’s too good to strip down.

I’ll probably get the running gear back into service and go from there.

First job is to rebuild the engine, after removing the head it appears that coolant has entered two cylinders 🙁
